"It's not only about being financially successful; it's being open to adventure, romance and spontaneity."
Hollywood's glamour is often shadowed by uncertainty. Three years after Ron and Dinah Stokes began their business, their accountant asked, "Do you know what you have here?" Their income from acting had plummeted, but their lifestyle was unaffected, thanks to the income from their business. Ron had 30 movies, 80 TV shows and hundreds of commercials and industrial films to his credit. Dinah, a busy actress in the Southern California legitimate theater, was a secretary in a film production company when she met Ron. They had one steady, small income (Dinah's) and one larger undependable one(Ron's). When casual friends showed them the business in a living room meeting they said "yes" because "we couldn't think of a good reason to say 'no'. Their business grew and Ron and Dinah grew. "Our values have been influenced and shaped from the leadership examples of our business friends," says Dinah. Ron suffered a stroke in 1984, their business not only maintained, but grew. "It's not only about being financially successful," says Dinah, "its the lovely benefit of being open to adventure, romance and spontaneity that comes with building it."
