"We saw a great opportunity to have a common focus on our future." "As owners of three businesses in their Michigan community, John and Kathy Plume were considered a success. In reality, Kathy worked 10 hours a day, six days a week as a hospital administrator and served on several committees. John worked 12 to 15 hours a day running their carpet store, furniture store and moving business. They also owned a real estate development company, a car restoration company, were members of a service club and extremely active in their church. They had little time to be together. Some people with their schedule might have pleaded lack of time as a reason for not starting a new business. For the Plumes, it was their reason to begin. They had been married for 10 years and had no children. "Here we saw a way not only to earn income to help support our other businesses," John recalls, "but a way to spend much, much more time together. We saw a great opportunity to have a common focus on our future. We had reached our goal of time." Their biggest joy in life today is in being with their son, Jonathan, and daughter, Kayla."
