I am an anthropologist who re-entered Quixtar/AmwayGlobal in fall of 2008. I had been sponsored into Quixtar in Spring of 2002 but decided it wasn't for me. This summer as I re-entered the job market, I started investigating alternative sources of income. I remembered the low cost to purchase the franchise and the very diverse, high quality products. When I looked at my options for a long-term career, they were all tied to large publicly held corporations with lower probabilities of surviving the crumbling economy intact or universities filled with academic politicking. These options combined with my more recent commissioned sales experience while in school to prompt me to return to Quixtar, but on my own terms and an understanding of my own limitations.

I fully believe in the Amway business opportunity, but I recognize that there are legitimate complaints and criticisms inherent to the business model. After experiencing the fallout of so-called "corporate governance" in traditional business models, however, and seeing the results of MBA-managed firms beholden to institutional shareholders who file lawsuits when immediate profit is deferred in favor of long-term sustainability, I believe that Amway is the best introduction to business management, business development, independent sales, and the spirit of free enterprise available today.
