Success Story

Mr Cheong is very good at nutrition science. He is an excellent speaker, famous of nutrition science, Amway Queen demonstration, and inspiring seminars. His nickname is "God of iCook" (煲神) in Greater China, HK and Macau.

A lifelong Macau resident, Pui-kuong tried different jobs after graduating from high school, finally opting to become a fireman. “There weren’t many choices in Macau at that time and you could either be a worker or a civil servant. I thought the fireman’s job would give me a comparatively more stable income,” says Pui-kuong.

Back in Macau’s colonial days, Chinese civil servants stood little chance of being promoted to senior positions. After nine years of working as a fireman, Pui-kuong hadn’t achieved much, and to find a way out he started a motor company with his friends. However, the business didn’t last long because of their lack of business experience.

Pui-kuong once invested in stocks and did actually make some money – until the stock market crash of 1987 led to huge losses. The repeated failures began to evaporate his confidence.

Pui-kuong still sought out new opportunities, however, it was his cousin who introduced him to the Amway business opportunity. The Macau Merchandising Centre hadn’t yet opened so Pui-kuong had to travel to Hong Kong once to twice a week to attend Amway meetings.

“In Amway I witnessed so many success stories, and saw that many of the successful leaders were not especially well educated. That really inspired me,” says Pui-kuong. After three months of observation he had full confidence in Amway and soon began to actively develop his business.

Pui-kuong’s wife, Joanna, fully supported her husband, and indeed saw it as an exceptional opportunity for both of them. “The Amway business fits our characters perfectly,” says Joanna. “We like to help people and Amway allows us to help others by boosting their health, beauty and confidence. We’ve had so much fun building up the Amway business!”

Having a common goal to work for also helped to improve the couple’s relationship. “Pui-kuong is mainly responsible for the sales and sponsoring while I do the schedule planning and contacting,” says Joanna, who even quit her nursing job in September last year to give full-time support to her husband.


Something to be proud of

Pui-kuong eventually realised his full potential through Amway and made a number of achievements in Macau.

For example, before the opening of the Macau Merchandising Centre, Distributors had to bring products from Hong Kong and deliver to downlines and customers in Macau. “To be more efficient, several Distributors and I began using a computer to keep track of our stocks which meant we could spend more time on sales and sponsoring,” he recalls.

The years of hard work paid off and Pui-kuong became Macau’s first Diamond Distributor before recently progressing to Macau’s first Executive Diamond. He says he is determined to prove the huge market potential of Macau.

Continuous learning

Pui-kuong suffered from poor health when he was young. After joining Amway he attended many nutrition workshops and actively developed his health knowledge. Now, not only has his own health improved, but he is also an acknowledged nutrition expert who is frequently invited to give talks in China.

“I always try to put nutrition knowledge into simple ideas so that more people can understand and learn about nutrition,” he says.

A beautiful life

When Pui-kuong speaks on stage, he immediately changes from a quiet unassuming person into a talented, captivating speaker who charms audiences with his eloquence. Pui-kuong says he acquired his skills through continuous practice and gradually building his confidence.

Pui-kuong and Joanna both agree that Amway gives them a lifestyle with plenty of freedom. Their eldest son is now studying abroad and the whole family regularly takes trips overseas. They are fully satisfied with what they now have.

“With free time and financial freedom now, so we’ve actually reached our goal,” says Pui-kuong. “Amway gives us flexibility in life that other jobs can’t offer. Now we plan to keep on strengthening our network to enable us to enjoy a totally free life and give more time to the community.”

Despite all their outstanding achievements, the couple still has high expectations and hopes for more breakthroughs. “We’re aiming at inspiring our downlines to help them identify Amway’s core values,” says Pui-kuong. “We really appreciate the backing the company has given, which has allowed us to concentrate on sales and training.”

Amway is a place where Pui-kuong and Joanna were able to realise their true potential, and there’s no doubt they will continue to shine and assert their considerable strengths in years to come.

當年澳門的公務員架構仍是由洋人當道,華人的晉升機會少之又少,加上由於不懂葡文的關係,做了九年消防員,張培光還是沒有什麼突出發展,於是張培光便和朋友合資做車行生意,希望可以找到新出路,但欠缺營商經驗的他,車行生意只維持很短時間便結束。

其後張培光嘗試股票投資,亦曾經略有所穫,但結果1987年的一場股災令他損失慘重,將他打回原形。傳統生意或投機都屢遭挫折,張培光以為自己真的只可以安份守己做消防員的工作。

就在張培光找尋新機會的時候,他的表哥介紹他認識安利的事業機會。當年安利尚未在澳門開設購貨中心,張培光只好每星期抽出一、兩天,遙遙跑到香港參與小組聚會,努力了解安利的生意。

「開始的時候,也只是業餘性質,直至看到很多成功例子在面前,又看到很多學識一般的人也可以達到很好的成績,因而增加我的信心。當然看到別人收入穩定,自己也渴望可以過這種生活!」經最初三個月的深入了解,張培光相信安利的產品具備龐大發展潛力,因此立即積極發展。

對於丈夫能找到一個新的發展機會,張培光的太太趙麗儀 (Joanna) 深表支持,「安利很適合我們二人的性格,因我們喜歡幫助別人,而安利可助人健康、扮靚,令人增加自信。這個事業讓我們兩夫婦同步發展,所以發展的過程都很開心,能幫助自己又能幫助別人,才是建立事業的真正樂趣!」

發展安利令夫婦二人擁有共同目標,亦大大增進彼此的感情,「丈夫主要做前線如銷售和推薦的工作,而我則負責時間策劃和聯絡。安利的完善制度和保障,令我們堅信這是我們的終身職業,因此,去年9月我辭去護士的工作,全力協助丈夫發展,希望可以突破佳績,令我們的安利事業更上一層樓!」

曾經投資生意、股票, 想創一番事業,給家人安穩的生活, 但父母只勸喻他安安份份做個消防員, 足夠養妻活兒便算了, 結果賠上積蓄,輸掉別人對他的信心。

我的驕傲

張培光加入安利後,才找到真正屬於自己的天地,更開創多項澳門「第一」的驕人成就。

「最初安利還未在澳門設立購貨中心,我們要肩負由香港運送產品到澳門分發給下線和用戶,後來為了提高效率,我便聯同幾位直系直銷商一起管理貨存的問題,以電腦記錄產品數量和補貨,大大提高效率,減少管理上的工作,多出來的時間便多做零售和推薦,加快發展安利的步伐!」

經過數年的努力,張培光成功晉升為澳門的第一戶鑽石直系,亦促使安利在澳門開設購貨中心,方便澳門直銷商發展業務。最近張培光再度開創另一項新紀錄,成為澳門第一戶的行政鑽石直系,張培光說要以自己的成績證明,澳門市場大有可為。

無止境的學習

年輕時候,張培光健康非常之差,患有鼻敏感兼經常失眠;多年來參加安利的營養課程,加上自己不斷學習和進修,張培光不但改善自己的健康,更不經意地增進他的營養知識,多年來已累積深厚的學問,近年,他更經常獲邀到中國內地作營養演講。

「我一直有參加安利提供的營養課程,自己亦會看書進修,參與不同的專業營養講座,透過自學和實踐,提升對營養的了解,累積一定的認識,我希望用簡單的方法向別人講解,令人更容易明白,從而提升他們對營養和健康的認識。」

張培光說父親是一個勤力而精明的人,當年經營一間小小的士多店,父親每每使出自學的招數,招攬顧客。即使是簡單如賣一支汽水,張父也會用盡心思,使點小魔術,顧客又會樂得多給一點錢和再度光顧。張培光自少深受父親的影響,因此他學會做任何事都比別人多一點認真、多一點心思。



蛻變美滿人生

日常的張培光較沉靜,但只要一踏上演講台,活像變成另一個人,說話滔滔不絕,語調鏗鏘,談笑風生,聽過張培光演講的人絕對認同他口才了得。但張培光表示,他今日的口才是在安利經過不斷學習而來。

「只要經過鍛鍊,任何事都會變得強些,所有領袖的口才都不是天生的,都是由零慢慢鍛鍊而來。在安利我們經常有機會參與不同聚會,與成功的人士接觸,從而提升自信心。只要相信自己的能力,實力是可以培養的。」

夫婦二人表示全賴安利的事業,讓他們可以享有自主的生活方式,自行處理時間。現時大兒子在外國求學,一家人無缺物質需求,每年還可以與父母、子女一起旅遊,盡享天倫,他們說對於生活可說是別無他求。

「現在可做到時間自由、經濟自由,能夠做到這兩項,人生目標已達到。相比傳統工作,安利給我們較大的彈性,現在每日都是假期,做任何事都沒阻力!希望可以繼續建立和鞏固我們的網絡,有朝一日放下所有生意,與子女一起到外國享受自由自在的生活!同時可以有能力多參與公益事務,回饋社會!」

雖然在安利發展多年,張培光夫婦對自己仍有很高的期望,希望每天都能突破自己,並以自己作為榜樣,幫助下線一起向前邁進。「我們著重啟發下線,幫助他們認清安利的價值,當他們明白了,便會積極去做,無需管理。安利有科研、市場管理等全盤支援,令直銷商可以放心開拓市場,專心一意推廣產品和培育 人才!」
