Amway Japan Limited (AJL) opened in 1979 and was at one time publicly traded on the New York Stock Exchange. It became private in 2000. Annual sales for 2006 were 111.043 billion yen.[1]

Amway Japan has its headquarters in Shibuya, Tokyo. The flagship building is environmentally friendly and frequently hosts concerts, ballets and art exhibitions for the community. In the two decades since Amway launched its operations in Japan, the affiliate has built the largest and most successful direct sales operations in Japan. AJL's has a network of over 680 000 registered distributors nationwide.

Amway Japan distributes approximately 180 consumer products through a core distributor force. In 2002 Amway Japan introduced products such as soy sauce and miso. Using entirely organically grown domestic soybeans, Amway Japan works together with farmers who have been following organic farming methods for more than 40 years.
